The beauty of giving thanks

Even though I'm from a country where Thanksgiving is not celebrated, as a girl that have been living in the US for almost 10 years (wow, almost a decade already!) I have adopted this very special holiday.

I believe that we should take a time everyday to be thankful for everything we have in our lives and that what makes Thanksgiving even more special is that we get the chance to do so while been with our families and friends.

And as important as it is this season to give thanks, prepare the feast and get together with your loved ones, it's important to know what to wear for this special occasion. Here are some outfit combinations, to make this important task a lot more easier for you.

 1. Lady-like blouse + jeans + high heels + simple coat

The attire for a Thanksgiving dinner is slightly less dressy than what you'll wear for Christmas, so it's a perfect time to wear your jeans while having some family time.

 2. A simple top + interesting skirt + cute flats

This outfit would be great if you are the host of this celebration. The flats will help you be comfortable all day.

3. A simple jumpsuit

Jumpsuits will always be one of my favorite options, very comfortable for when you have to get on the floor to play with the little ones.

4. Light long dress + ankle boots + leather jacket

It's flirty and chic enough to be around your loved ones, specially your +1. This also looks great on a pregnant woman, just wear shoes that you feel more comfortable in.

5. short sleeves sweater + comfy pants + ankle boots

This outfit can be comfortable enough to stay up all night for Black Friday!

6. A simple short dress + dressy flats

You can still be sexy around your family with a short dress, just try a long sleeve version with very cute flats to tone it down.

At the end been surrounded by friends, family and loved ones is the most comfortable feeling you could ever have, and there's no style for that.

Be happy, be thankful.

Falling for Fall

Hello Fall! I officially welcome you to my closet :)

I'm sure that most girls have been planning their Fall wardrobe since Summer started, but it’s very different to plan a wardrobe than to actually execute the ideas and put the outfits together for each season (trust me, it has happened to me many times).

So I decided to share some ideas, straight from the Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear runway shows to give you a boost of inspiration for this season and help you express your style. So go ahead and try one of the following trends for Fall:

Black on Black

 Gold Accents

Casual Chic

 Black and White

Hot 305

When you think of Summer, Miami is one of the cities that first comes to mind. It’s HOT all year around (with some scattered thunder storms and an occasional hurricane) and it feels like it’s always Summer.

One of the easiest and my favorite pieces of clothing for warm weather, which every girl should have, is a strapless dress – yes,  it doesn’t matter your size, you should have one. It’s cool for the hot weather; you can wear it with beautiful sandals during the day and with your favorite shoes at night (like my open-toe booties). You can even wear it to the office with a nice jacket or cardigan.

One of the great things about this type of dress is that you get to show off your best pieces of jewelry. Beautify yourself with a colorful statement necklace if you wear a black or white dress, or a silver or gold piece with a more colorful dress. Go on, stay cool and show off your assets!

Sweet & Spicy

I recently had the opportunity to have my good friend Tatiana (I call her "Tats") let me help her clean and organize her closet. She was frustrated because, like most of us, she felt she had too much clothes but nothing to wear.

So we got to making brutal cuts, and among the survivors I found a light green jacket that my friend didn’t know what to pair with. Another familiar problem: you like one piece, but don’t know how to style it.

This post is dedicated to Tats. This is one of the many ways to wear this jacket. In this case, it’s a "pop of color" in an outfit of mostly dark pieces.

With black pants, a navy blue striped t-shirt and silver touches, this jacket becomes the focal point of your outfit.

Other combinations she can try:
·      A white summer dress and flats (or heels, like she ususally prefers)
·      The famous LBD
·      A black and white outfit
·      With other colors like navy blue, white and dark green
·      And even with jeans shorts, a t-shirt and converse, for a very casual look

Of course, we also took the time to enjoy a delicious burger and have some drinks (yes!, that is a jalapeno in my drink) very delicious.

Romper Up

One of the most versatile pieces of clothing for Spring & Summer time is a romper. A very popular piece because it's light and loose fitting, can be easily converted from day to night as well as from casual to formal just by switching your accessories. The one I am wearing is from Mommy & Mia. I wore it with a thin white studded belt from H&M to accentuate my waist.

I found this awesome leather short-sleeve moto jacket at Forever 21. It's white (perfect for this season), and the leather is so light that I can wear it with anything in my closet and under high temperatures. It also gives that little bit of edge to my outfit.

These gladiator sandals from Charlotte Russe pull this outfit together.

Color Me Bad

I love art. It's part of my life, my family and my career, so it's not surprising that I wanted to take some pictures at one of the most artistic places in Miami: Wynwood.

Art and fashion are major elements of Wynwood. The Wynwood Walls, where these shots were taken, is an outdoor mural exhibit featuring some of the world’s most renowned street artists. The area is full of art galleries, restaurants and bars, making it the perfect place to have a night on the town.

Because of the free creative spirit that this place inspires, I decided to get a little daring and wear something that I wouldn’t normally wear. This striped bodycon dress was calling my daredevil name, and I paired it with a white blazer (perfect for Spring/Summer) and some black and gold accessories. The blazer also gives the option of staying conservative and classic during the day or bold and sexy at night without it.

The white blazer is from Zara, the dress is from Forever 21 and my shoes are Steve Madden for Shoemint.

Locked Out of Heaven

I have a confession to make, only a few things make me feel as feminine and sexy as this beautiful emerald green lace skirt did. As soon as I tried it on I started to feel like I belong in another era and immediately fell into character. I wore it with a very cool and unique T-shirt, from Down and Dirty Ethics (D.A.D.E), for a little bit of contrast; a statement necklace and studded pumps for a hint of edge.

Style tip: A statement necklace can take your outfit from conservative to avant-garde in seconds.

This beautiful skirt is from Zara and my shoes are from Charlotte Russe.

Spring in Style

Spring is here! (It officially starts today, March 20th) and I’ve put together a list of new trends to get you ready for this season. These are some of the must have pieces that you should start getting in your closet right now so, let's go shopping! (Like if you needed an excuse, anyway).

 Red Dresses
A red dress can take you from day to night just by switching your accessories. Wear a short version with a blazer and ankle boots for the day and a longer version for night, with high heels and a statement necklace.

 Printed Pants
I am obsessed with this trend and I’m sure that I wont be the only one trying it this season. Of course I prefer to wear it with solid color tops, but I will never be against trying it with a printed top as well.

 Bermudas
These are another alternative to show your beautiful legs, just make sure to buy them in beautiful fabrics (no denim or cotton, please) and wear them with unique pieces and high heels for a look more elegant than casual.

 A-Line skirt
This skirt is perfect for spring. It has a very girlie feeling and you can dress it up (with a nice blouse and high heels) or down (with flats and a t-shirt), depending the occasion.

 Soft Leathers
This light-leather version, in any piece (dresses, pants, tops) will make you look chic and comfortable without worrying about the hot weather outside.

 Jumpsuits
I called it the “all-in-one outfit”. This piece is a must have this season, preferably in very bold prints and colors
